- Dr. Packiaraj Arumugham will be
presenting a paper entitled "Buddhism and Early
Christianity in India-Some Philosophical Issues"
at the Second International Conference on the
History of Early Christianity on January 13-17,
2007.
- Dr. Lloyd L. Lyter, Professor of SSW
will present a paper entitled A Model of
Cooperative, International, Cross-Discipline
Internship Supervision in a Professional
School at Keimyung University, Daegu, Korea
in April 2007.
- Dr. Phyllis N. Black, Professor of
Social Work will be presenting a paper entitled
"Effective Communication: The essence of
effective helping." Hunterdon Developmental
Center, Clinton, New Jersey on May 15,
2007.
- Dr.Phyllis N. Black, Professor of
Social Work will be presenting "Doing the Right
Thing in Ethical Challenging Times" on March 30,
2007 at the University of Vermont.
- Dr. Phyllis N. Black and D. Levine,
will be presenting a paper entitled "Private
Troubles and Public: Professional Ethics and
Decision Making" at Barry University School of
Social Work in Miami, Florida on March 16,
2007.
- Dr. Phyllis N. Black, Professor of
Social Work presented a paper entitled "Assuring
Ethical Social Work Practice" at the NASW
Philadelphia Division, Continuing Education
Workshop on February 17, 2007.
- Dr. Phyllis N. Black, Professor of
Social Work presented "Ethical Issues in Social
Work Practice: Shades of Gray" at the Continuing
Education Series, University of Pennsylvania
School of Social Policy and Practice,
Philadelphia, PA. on February 9, 2007.
- Dr. Phyllis N. Black and J.
Damron-Rodriguez presented a paper entitled
"Performance-based outcome education:
Competencies - The way of the future" at the
Gero-Ed Forum 2006, in Charleston, South
Carolina on February 3, 2007.
- Dr. Christine Kessen and Dr. Michelle
DiLauro will present a workshop, "Prayer and
Healing in Social Work: Resources for
Challenging Times", at the Second North American
Conference co-sponsored by the Canadian Society
for Spirituality and Social Work and the Society
for Spirituality and Social Work, June 21-23,
2007, Dominican University, Chicago, IL.
- Dr. Michelle DiLauro has been
accepted for a poster presentation entitled
"Vibrational Medicine: Informing Social Work
Practice" at the Second North American
Conference co-sponsored by the Canadian Society
for Spirituality and Social Work and the Society
for Spirituality and Social Work, June 21-23,
2007, Dominican University, Chicago, IL.
- Ms. Hope Horowitz, an instructor in
the School of Social Work, who teaches in the
Lehigh Valley MSW Program, was named Social
Worker of the Year by the Lehigh Valley Chapter
of the National Association of Social
Workers.
- Dr. Kenneth White has an article
entitled "The Scourge of Racism: Genocide in
Rwanda" accepted for publication in the Journal
of Black Studies. The article was
published in 2006 as conference proceedings of
the Southern Interdisciplinary Roundtable on
African Studies (SIRAS) by the Division of
Behavioral and Social Sciences of Kentucky State
University. The article may be accessed on the
following website as Publish-Ahead-of-Print
article: http://jbs.sagepub.com/pap.dtl.
- Dr. Kenneth White also has an
article entitled "Hinduism: The Racial Religious
Oppression of the Dalits (Africians) of
India", accepted for publication in a
forthcoming issue of the Journal of Black
Studies. The article was published in
2006 as conference proceedings of the Southern
Interdisciplinary Roundtable on African Studies
(SIRAS) by the Division of Behavioral and Social
Sciences of Kentucky State University. A copy
has been donated to the library at Marywood
University.
2008
- Sharon C. Lyter, Ph.D., Lloyd L. Lyter,
Ph.D., and Ann A. Abbott, Ph.D. will present
"Integrating Safety for Social Workers into
the Curriculum: A Cross-Atlantic Perspective"
to the 2008 BPD Annual Conference and
25th Conference Anniversary in Destin, FL,
March 2008.
- Lloyd L. Lyter, Ph.D. will present
"AA, MM, RR, SMART, WFS, & DSM: More than
One Road to Recovery" at the PA
Certification Board's Annual Conference in
Harrisburg, PA on April 21, 2008.
