"The same methodical approach that helped me use missionary letters to gain insight into Korean history for my thesis also proved to be the key to unlock the bigger picture of each. Had I not been able to work on an extensive research project as an undergraduate, not only would I have lacked the skills to complete such projects, but I would have lacked the confidence to even start them. In that sense, my thesis was perhaps the most important and enduring element of my entire university career."
