Marywood's chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa promotes excellence in research, learning, teaching, and publication in the area of religious study. As a member, you can:

  • Develop lasting friendships with other religious studies students
  • Honor others for their academic achievements
  • Attend events and social gatherings

Membership Requirements

  • Junior or senior standing
  • Overall Q.P.A. of 3.0
  • Q.P.A. of 3.5 in religious studies
  • Completion of 12 credits in religious studies
  • Declaration of intent to major or minor in religious studies
  • Ranking within the top 35% of your class


  • Enter federal service at GS-7 level, rather than GS-5
  • Journal of Theta Alpha Kappa, delivered bi-annually in the spring and fall
  • Dinner and induction ceremony
  • Membership certificate, suitable for framing
  • Permission to wear symbols of membership, including medallion, lapel pin, necklace charms, and honor cords
  • Chance to apply for undergraduate achievement awards and annual fellowship award
  • Chance to compete for the Albert Clark prize ($500) for the best religious studies paper
  • Invitation to the annual national meeting and reception
  • Networking opportunities
  • Periodic newsletter
