Research Interests

Dr. Behun conducts research and lectures in the areas of human sexuality, mandated reporting of child maltreatment with an emphasis on child sexual abuse, and legal and ethical issues in the helping professions (concentrating on civil liability and tort law with a specialty in negligence).


Richard Joseph Behun, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Dr. Behun is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and is a certified PK-12 school counselor. Dr. Behun holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and has earned master’s degrees in Education Law, School Counseling, and School Administration. He has extensive experience working with middle and high school students in his previous positions as a professional school counselor and high school principal.
