Marywood makes it easy for current school counselors to earn a second school counseling certification through its accelerated post master's certification program. Through evening, summer, and online courses, this 21-credit program enables school counselors with a master's degree in school counseling (counselor education) to earn a second certification in elementary or secondary school counseling in just one year.
Because dual certification is a relatively new educational option, most seasoned counselors do not have this valuable credential, which allows them to practice at all grade levels.
Marywood's acclerated post master's certification program is the only one in Northeast Pennsylvania that affords practicing school counselors the opportunity to meet all the requirements of a second certification in just one year.
Marywood's school counseling program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and meets all Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements for school counselor certification.
