As a community, we are joined with the people of Haiti at this time of great suffering. We stand in particular solidarity with our Haitian students, Chadli Charlot and Carl Fils-Aime and their families, as well as with the Little Sisters of St. Therese and those whom they serve in ministry. (If you are aware of any other students or employees who have relatives in Haiti, please forward that information to Fran Ferrese at ferrese@marywood.edu.)
In an effort to respond to the suffering of our Haitian brothers and sisters, various fundraising initiatives have begun on campus and we have established a Marywood University Haiti Relief Fund. Please send all funds collected for Haiti to Sister Ellen Carney, Assistant Treasurer of the University. Make checks payable to: Marywood University Haiti Relief Fund. All donations contributed to this Fund will be sent directly to Marywood related persons or ministries in Haiti.
So that we have accurate information about our collective efforts for Haiti, please e-mail Sister Catherine Luxner (luxner@marywood.edu) in Campus Ministry about any campus projects on behalf of Haiti.
As an IHM-sponsored ministry, Marywood University has a special bond with Haiti through Theresa Maxis, founder of the Congregation, and a long-standing Haiti Outreach Project with the Little Sisters of St. Therese in Haiti.
Thank you in advance for your prayers, generosity, and ongoing concern for the people of Haiti.
