The Sister Theresa Maxis Medal is awarded to professional personnel and hourly employees who will have completed twenty cumulative years of full-time or regular part-time service to Marywood University during the year the award is given. It expresses the esteem and appreciation of the University for the individual's years of faithful service.
The award is a round medallion on a stand, featuring the replica of Sister Theresa Duchemin Maxis, co-founder with Rev. Louis Florent Gillet, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is surrounded by the words "Sister Theresa Maxis Service Award."
Definitions of employment classifications are those in effect at the time of the award.
A committee of five former medalists works with the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources.
