Tanya Papura, M.S., R.D. L.D.N., part-time faculty, is the instructor for ND 301 parts B & C, Food Systems Management I (Production & Marketing); ND 379 , Food Systems Management II; ND 400 Professional Practice; and clinical instructor for ND 390, MNT I, and ND 391, Food Systems Management I. She is currently employed part-time as a clinical dietitian at WVHCs TCU. Her prior work experience includes full-time employment for several years as a food service director/clinical dietitian in Mercy Center,an area skilled nursing facility, and Mercy Special Care,long term hospital. In these positions, she operated the food service departments and performed clinical nutrition services for both inpatients/residents and outpatients. Tanya functioned as the dietitian upon the opening of the Skilled Nursing Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, ensuring that all state requirements were met for both the unit and the food service prior to department of health approval.
In the past, she has worked at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey in the capacities of: clinical dietitian, community dietitian, and acting chief clinical dietitian. At that time she actively worked as a member of the Diabetes Care Team and Renal Team. She performed training seminars for community nursing students and the RWJ residency program at the hospital. Tanya also ran a "Lighten Up" weight loss program in her community dietitian capacity at the hospital.
In addition to her paid duties, she is currently faculty mentor of Marywoods Student Dietetic Association, and serves as Student Liaison with the Northeast PA District Dietetic Association. Tanya is also active in several volunteer organizations including Fairview Elementary PTA where she chairs several committees; Mountaintop Youth Soccer; Mountaintop Little League, where she coaches; and Blitz Football utilizing her background to manage a concession stand.
