Nursing forms a major component of the health care provided within society. The field of nursing encompasses those aspects of health care which assist a client to identify human responses to health problems and to alleviate those problems.
The nursing program prepares students to become licensed registered nurses. The program teaches students how to use evidence based practice to provide nursing care to clients in a variety of health care settings.
After successfully passing the licensure exam, students will be prepared to work in acute care, long-term care, mental health, home health, pharmaceutical and administrative settings.
To become a licensed registered nurse, students must complete a rigorous four year program of study. Students must then pass the State Board of Nursing examination in the state in which they are applying for licensure.
Nursing students have the opportunity to participate in the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and the Student Nurses' Association of Marywood and Pennsylvania.
