Why is the field of nursing important?

Nursing forms a major component of the health care provided within society. The field of nursing encompasses those aspects of health care which assist a client to identify human responses to health problems and to alleviate those problems. 

What is unique about Marywood University's nursing program?

The nursing program prepares students to become licensed registered nurses. The program teaches students how to use evidence based practice to provide nursing care to clients in a variety of health care settings.

What type of employment opportunities are available to licensed registered nurses?

After successfully passing the licensure exam, students will be prepared to work in acute care, long-term care, mental health, home health, pharmaceutical and administrative settings.

How do I become a licensed registered nurse?

To become a licensed registered nurse, students must complete a rigorous four year program of study. Students must then pass the State Board of Nursing examination in the state in which they are applying for licensure.

What is the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)?

The NLNAC is an accreditation body that provides the standards and regulations that must be practiced by nursing education programs and in professional nursing practices as well. The NLNAC assists nursing programs to cultivate a diverse and clinically skilled student team to deliver nursing practice in health care settings.

What professional organizations do nursing students participate in?

Nursing students have the opportunity to participate in the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and the Student Nurses' Association of Marywood and Pennsylvania.
