Nursing Program: Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Program (BSN) Requirements

  • Admission to Marywood University in the nursing program by direct admission or by taking a pre-RN entrance examination and achieving a satisfactory score as determined by the nursing department. Download Entrance Exam Information Packet
  • Reasonably good health and the physical ability to perform in the nursing profession.
  • Total SAT score of 1450 and 480 in math. If your SAT scores are not high enough, you will have the opportunity to complete a nursing exam.

Graduate Program Requirements

  • A completed application form and fee.
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing (or its equivalent) from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited program, or a non-nursing bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse in the United States.
  • A minimum of one year of clinical practice in nursing or one year of recent health care employment is preferred.
  • Satisfactory performance on Miller's Analogies Test (MAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE), only if your undergraduate QPA is less than 3.0.
  • Satisfactory (C or better) completion of an undergraduate course in statistics, including both descriptive and inferential statistics.
  • Satisfactory completion (C or better) of an undergraduate course in physical assessment or continuing education course.
  • Satisfactory completion (C or better) of an undergraduate course in research methods.
  • Two letters of reference from prior faculty and/or professional nurses.
  • A personal statement identifying career goals congruent with the purposes of the program.
