Marywood's Choir and Orchestra to Collaborate on Holiday Concert
With more than 100 musicians—a full choir and orchestra—two conductors and an evening of holiday music, the Marywood University Choir and Orchestra are getting ready to spread holiday cheer, as it prepares for its annual holiday concert this Saturday.
"It's a very festive concert," says Nat Parker, orchestral director and associate professor of music, when asked how he would describe the performance. "It's a concert we really love to do, and the audience always seems to enjoy it."
The Marywood University Choir and Orchestra will perform Saturday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts. Admission is free.
Listen to Director Nat Parker discuss the annual holiday concert.
Parker will be joined by Rick Hoffenberg, choir director and associate professor of music, who will direct the campus choir, while Parker will focus on the orchestra. One would think that having two conductors would be chaotic, but, according to Parker, the experience is a pleasant one.
"[Rick] and I have a special relationship. We work together really well," he says. "The balance seems to always work well, and it helps all of us get into the mindset of the season."
