The Marywood Aviators Club will host its 8th Annual Aviation Day on Saturday, April 13, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport. All proceeds from the event, which is open to the public, will benefit Angel Flight of America. Angel Flight is a nonprofit organization founded to fly financially distressed individuals to hospitals and clinics. Marywood University, Tech Aviation Flight School, Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport and Saker Aviation are event sponsors.
This year's event will include a display of aircraft including WWII fighters, stunt planes, FedEx delivery planes, the Geisinger LifeFlight helicopter, private jets, Piper Cubs, and more. Visitors will have the opportunity to get a close up look at the planes. Many of the owners will be available to talk about their planes and answer any questions.
An Aviation Day highlight will be the opportunity to take an airplane ride with a certified instructor from Tech Aviation Flight School for $20. Anyone interested can buy a ticket at the event. There are a limited number of time slots available. Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
Other activities will include the opportunity to speak with representatives from the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, Civil Air Patrol, Marywood University, Angel Flight, and many more. There will be a basket raffle and child-friendly activities. Food will be available for purchase.
The activities will take place at Saker Aviation, located at 101 Hangar Road, Avoca, the road leading to Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport's terminal. Parking will be guided. Guests must go through security before going into the hangar.
The rain date will be Sunday, April 14.
