Author, Peggy Giordano, to Speak at Marywood About Delinquency in Youth

Marywood University's Cultural Affairs and Criminal Justice departments will host distinguished Professor of Sociology and Author, Peggy C. Giordano, on Sunday, November 7 at 7 p.m. in the Comerford Auditorium, Center for Natural and Health Sciences. The event is free and open to the public.

Giodano is the author of Legacies of Crime: A Follow-up of the Children of Highly Delinquent Girls and Boys  and was published by Cambridge University Press. The book reports the results of in-depth interviews with men and women and their children over a span of 20 years. Her interest lies in the family dynamics which transmit crime, violence, and substance abuse from parent to child.

A Sociology Professor at Bowling Green State University, Ms. Giordano has had her research published in leading sociology and criminology journals, such as Criminology, American Sociological Review and the American Journal of Sociology. A Fellow of the American Society of Criminology, Giordano's analyses of the adult lives of a sample of delinquent youth have twice won the American Sociological Association's James F. Short, Jr., award for best article.
