Marywood University alumna, Michelle A. Summers '00, Scranton, received the Marywood Alumni Association Recent Graduate Award at Marywood's 2010 Homecoming.
Michelle serves as an English, speech, composition, and communications teacher at Dunmore High School. She also serves as moderator of the school newspaper, theatrical administrator, and participates in the after-school tutoring program.
Michelle is the co-founder of Camp Our Time in Rock Hill, New York, a non-profit artistic program, offering help and hope to children struggling to overcome stuttering challenges, notably through participation in theatre. Michelle has directed numerous plays that range from musicals to dramas to comedies. She has instructed classes on stagecraft and costumes and designed sets for Marywood's Summer Music Camp. In addition, she has been technical director for plays at Keystone College, helped stage shows at Scranton High School, and worked with Linn McDonald's School of Dance and Ballet Theatre League of Scranton in presenting the annual Christmas production of The Nutcracker.
Michelle received her BA degree cum laude in Theatre with a minor in Art and a concentration in sculpture and earned her secondary education certification in Communications. Currently, she is pursuing an M.S in Arts Administration at Drexel University.
