Environmental Artist Jackie Brookner to Present at Marywood
Environmental artist Jackie Brookner will offer an illustrated lecture about her work at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24 in the Learning Resources Center, Room 160. As part of the Fresh Perspectives-New Solutions: Visiting Environmental Artist Series, it is free and open to the public. The artist will be available to sign copies of her new book, Urban Rain, at a reception following the lecture.
Brookner is known internationally for her public art projects that remediate water quality. Her collaborative process involves engineers, residents, and policy makers, fostering sustainable watershed practices that restore and empower communities.
She has designed vegetated water filtration systems called BiosculpturesTM across the U.S. and in Europe, and she has exhibited and lectured internationally. Brookner, a graduate of Harvard University, has won numerous awards and currently teaches at Parsons School of Design.
