The Marywood University Chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA) was awarded a $700.00 community service grant from the NSSLHA Executive Council in fall 2009. The grant was used to support an educational project for Head Start, a Scranton Lackawanna Human Development Agency (SLHDA).
Marywood University NSSLHA Chapter matched the grant by sponsoring two fundraisers; a clothing sale and "Night at Cold Stone Creamery".
The combined funds were used to purchase educational materials for approximately ten Head Start centers in Lackawanna County. Materials were presented to Head Start representatives at the North Scranton II location in December 2009 by NSSLHA Chapter Officers.
