Resident Student Meeting

Required for all students living on campus, this session is the first step toward creating great communities. Meet other new freshmen and transfer residents, get introduced to the student staff members, and gain an understanding of the expectations of living in University housing.

Commuter Student Meeting

Required for all students commuting to campus, this session offers an opportunity to meet other new freshmen and transfers who will travel to campus for classes. Learn about the programs and services offered to commuters and opportunities to get involved on campus. Student IDs will be distributed at this session.

Design-Your-Own Bags

Celebrate the new school year by designing and decorating your own tote bag or laundry bag (while supplies last.)

Bring a blanket and enjoy an outdoor movie on a gigantic movie screen. Enjoy some classic summer snacks as you get to know other new students. Rain Location: Latour Conference Room, Nazareth Hall.

Hot Tip: When you buy your books at the campus bookstore, bring your class schedule. Different sections of classes can be taught by many different professors, each with their own required books list.

A defensive lineman who earned All Pennsylvania Conference and All State Honors, Mike Green has served as a high school athletic director and has coached Division II football at West Chester University. Having presented at over 2000 college campuses, Mike Green entertains you with personal examples about life choices. Program required for all new students.

Passport to Scranton Vendor Fair/Lunch 

Area vendors and service agencies will be present to welcome you to the Marywood campus and to the Scranton area. Check out the displays and learn what the area has to offer. Pick up tickets for this evening's Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees game. Sign up for Saturday's day trips at no charge at this event on a first-come, first-served basis. See the Saturday schedule in this guide for more information about trips to Dorney Amusement Park, Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark, The Crossings Premium Outlets, and the Lackawanna State Park. Lunch will be provided at the Vendor Fair; the Main Dining Room will be closed for new freshmen and transfer students.

Transitions Program for Transfer Students 

Registration will occur 12:30 - 1:15 pm. Meet other new transfer students, faculty, and staff as you participate in a program designed to provide information related to academic resources, student services, and opportunities to get involved on campus.

Small Group Meetings 

Gather on the stairs in front of the Liberal Arts Center for a Class of 2013 picture. Join students from the summer orientation program and meet additional new students. Orientation Advisors will share helpful hints for your classes and lead you in a Class of 2013 memory project. Program required for all new students. Rain location: Main Dining Room, Nazareth Hall

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees Game 

Hop on the bus and watch the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees take on the Pawtucket Red Sox at nearby PNC Field on Montage Mountain. There is no charge for the event; refreshments at the game are not provided. Tickets may be picked up at the Passport to Scranton Vendor Fair, held earlier during the day.

Off-Campus Bus Trips 

Be sure to sign up at the Passport to Scranton Vendor Fair on Friday to reserve your space for the off-campus bus trips to Dorney Amusement Park, Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark, the Crossings Outlet Mall, and Lackawanna State Park. Limited space is available. Park admission is covered by your student activities fees; lunch will only be provided to those going to the Lackawanna State Park. Be certain to arrive early so you don't miss the transportation.

  • The Dorney Amusement Park bus and the Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark will both leave at 9:00 am from the Nazareth Parking Lot.
  • The Crossings Outlet Mall bus and the Lackawanna State Park bus will depart at 10:00 am from the Nazareth Parking Lot.
  • All trips will return by 5:00 pm.

Take the opportunity to visit Wal-Mart and the Viewmont Mall for some last minute back-to-school shopping. The first bus leaves Marywood at 1:00 pm and the second bus leaves at 2:00 pm. Buses will return to campus at 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
