Health and well being will be the focus of Marywood University's seventh annual Celebrate Your Body Wellness Fair on Thursday, February 19, from 11a.m.-2 p.m. in the Fireplace Lounge, Nazareth Student Center. The Celebrate Your Body Wellness Fair, in conjunction with National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, is an interactive program used to promote positive body image, fitness and personal health.
Hosted by Marywood's Counseling/Student Development Center and Peers on Wellness, informational booths will include topics such as personal health care, nutrition, physical fitness, positive body image, adult A.D.H.D., college sleep deprivation, massages, blood pressure screenings, core training, scans of the spine and nervous system, and blood pressure checks, as well as eating attitude screenings. In addition, nutrition students will be on hand to teach about healthy nutrition practices.
The American Lung Association, Scranton Medical Institute, UNO Gym, Yesavage Chiropractic Services, McCann Massage School, Inner Harmony, and Dietitian Janet Milner, R.D. are among the local participants involved in the fair. Other participating Marywood departments will be the Human Physiology Lab, SOUL Club, Physician's Assistant Program; Athletics and Recreation, Nutrition and Dietetics, Chartwell's Dining and the Marywood Library.
The Celebrate Your Body Wellness Fair is free and open to the public. Giveaways and refreshments will be provided. For more information, please call (570) 348-6245.
