Dr. Patricia Arter, Assistant Professor in the Special Education Department, will present Students On-Campus Achieving Results (SOAR), a campus based transition program for students with autism, along with NEIU staff Mary Murphy Fox, Ellen Cummings, and Ellen Dente.
MSW Students are currently conducting clothing and food drives to assist United Neighborhood Center. Please bring any clothing or non-perishable food you would like to donate to the School of Social Work and place in the respective containers. The food drive is part of the Feed-a-Friend project.
Marywood University will host a talk and video presentation with Susan Dowling, co-creator of Art 21, a national prime-time PBS series that features contemporary visual artists and is now in its fifth season. The event, Meet Art 21, is set for Wednesday, October 28, at 7 p.m., in the Latour Conference Room, Nazareth Hall. During the presentation, Dowling will talk about the finest and most inventive visual artists of our time and develop the idea of the artist as a model for creative thinking.
Marywood University will be participating in the Scranton Reads program to encourage reading and unite citizens of Scranton through a love of literacy. Author of The Things They Carried, Tim O'Brien, will discuss his book on Thursday, October 29, at 7 p.m, in the Sette LaVerghetta Center. In addition, on Wednesday, October 21, at 8 p.m., there will be presentation of the film, A Soldier's Sweetheart, in the Comerford Theatre. Both events are free and open to the public, but you must have a ticket. Tickets are available at all Lackawanna County libraries and at the Marywood University library.
