Marywood String Celebration Performance

The Marywood University String Celebration is an event held annually for string students in grades 7-12. Students rehearse and perform with esteemed string clinicians and conductors from throughout the country. Students gain professional insight on technique, musicality, and orchestral music. After two days of rehearsal, the students will perform a concert on Saturday evening. Free admission

The Northeastern Youth Wind Ensemble Concert

The Northeastern Youth Wind Ensemble is composed of wind and percussion performers from the public, private, parochial and home schools in the Northeastern Pennsylvania area. All members must be actively involved in their school music program and must be recommended by their music teacher. The ensemble performs a variety of repertoire ranging from traditional (transcriptions, marches and works of serious and artistic merit) to cutting-edge contemporary composition and music from popular media venues. Marywood University Symphony Orchestra Concert

The Marywood University Symphony Orchestra will perform a varied program featuring beloved classical repertoire. The program will include the exciting and colorful Capriccio Espanol by Rimsky-Korsakov in which the Russian composer explores the "sounds" of Spain through music. The concert will also feature Mozart's Symphony No. 31 (Paris) which the composer wrote when he was just 22 years old. Free admission

The Tutti Ensemble at Marywood University is an adaptive program encouraging the use of music for individuals with unique learning styles. As an emerging band program, the ensemble partners each student with one Music Education and one Music Therapy student from Marywood in order for each student to succeed in learning a new instrument and performing with a wind ensemble, and of course, having fun along the way! The Marywood Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble will present an afternoon of music from the classic band repertoire and exciting new music from outstanding female composers. American composer Carolyn Bremer's Early Light and Into the Sun by Australian Jody Blackshaw will be featured on the program. In addition, the bands will perform Vincent Persichetti's Divertimento for Band Op. 42 and Vanity Fair by British Composer, Percy Fletcher. Free admission

Musicians and Singers from the Marywood Department of Music, Theatre and Dance will join the Marywood Wind Symphony in an evening of Christmas musical standards and holiday tunes that everyone will enjoy. Our "Christmas Music Festival" will feature sacred, pop, rock, and jazz selections that are sure to please everyone in attendance. All should be aware that a visit from the North Pole's favorite elf is also expected. Admission is free for everyone.
