JUNIOR WBC - December 2-3, 2011
SENIOR WBC - February 3-4, 2012
Beginning in fall 2009, the University restructured its band festival event into a new ensemble experience for junior high students. Approximate 160 students participated in the two-day wind band celebration held at Marywood (Celebration Band and Honors Band). In 2010-2011, the program added a second, separate band clinic for senior high. Students are nominated by individual school music directors and final selections conducted by University music faculty. Each year we welcome nationally recognized band clinicians to Marywood to work with student participants and conduct the final concert on day two of the festival. The events are sponsored by Marywood University's MENC Collegiate Chapter.

Approximately six students are selected by each school's music director to participate. Students are assessed by the sectional coaches during the first rehearsal and seating is assigned thereafter. Marywood strings faculty instructors Sophie Till (violin/viola) and Christiane Appenheimer-Vaida (cello/double bass) coach sectional rehearsals. During the two-day festival, students and teachers also have opportunity to participate in workshop sessions (e.g., Alexander Technique, Musicianship Skills/Performance Techniques for Student Musicians). ACT 48 professional development credits are available for teacher participants.
