Mission

A Catholic university sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Marywood University roots itself in the principle of justice and a belief that education empowers people. Enacting its ideals, Marywood offers students a welcoming and supportive community that encourages men and women of all backgrounds to shape their lives as leaders in service to others. Proud of its liberal arts tradition and host of professional disciplines, Marywood challenges students to broaden their understanding of global issues and to make decisions based on spiritual, ethical, and religious values. Students in Service

In the context of Catholic Social Teaching and the Marywood University Mission, students devote an average of 60,000 hours annually to volunteer service, including local, regional, national and international outreach to children, families, seniors, and communities. Under the direction of Campus Ministry, the campus community explores the relationship between faith and higher education, as well as opportunities for liturgy, prayer, spiritual and moral development, and empowering students and community members for leadership roles in Church and society. In 2009, the University's service record was recognized when Marywood was named to The President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts and service to America's communities.

Financial Aid

Marywood University offers a comprehensive program of financial aid to assist students in meeting educational costs. In addition to federal and state-funded programs based on demonstrated financial need, more than $26 million in institutional aid is awarded annually to Marywood students.
