Gogal and Sandone Elected to Marywood Board of Trustees
Sister Anne Munley IHM, Ph.D., Marywood University President, recently announced that two new trustees have been elected to Marywood’s Board of Trustees. In addition, a new slate of officers was elected for the 2015-2016 year, including: Ann R. Henry, Ph.D., Chair; Mary Ellen McDonough, Vice Chair; Lisa Lori, J.D., Secretary; and John T. Tighe, III, Treasurer. Newly-elected trustees are Maria C. Gogal and Patrick W. Sandone III, M.B.A.
Maria C. Gogal
She has earned various special achievement and excellence awards for Merck project work. Ms. Gogal is involved in many local church community activities, including efforts such as Feed My Starving Children, and she also sponsors a child in El Salvador through Compassion International. Her community contributions include volunteer work for several non-profit organizations, including membership on the Development Committee for the Women’s Health and Counseling Center at Zufall Health Center. She was inducted into Marywood University’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015 for her outstanding achievements as a college tennis player. Because of her skill and commitment as an athlete, she earned the Mary Beth Salmon Award for Dedication in 2004. While at Marywood, Ms. Gogal also was an academic leader, with memberships in Kappa Gamma Pi (National Catholic College Graduate Honor Society) and Psi Chi (Psychology National Honor Society), as well as Delta Epsilon Sigma (National Scholastic Honor Society) and the Psychology Club, two groups for which she also served as President.
A 2004 graduate of Marywood University, Ms. Gogal holds a Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, in Industrial/Organizational Psychology with a minor in Business. In 2011, she earned a Master of Science in Jurisprudence degree in Health, Science, and Technology Law, magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University of Law, Newark, N.J., where she was awarded “Student of the Year for Outstanding Studies” for being first in her class. Her studies focused on Health Law and Intellectual Property. Additionally, Ms. Gogal has completed the Healthcare Compliance Leadership Program at INSEAD (Business School of the World) in Insead, France, as well as the Seton Hall Law/SciencesPo Healthcare Compliance Leadership Program in Paris, France. She is Green and Black Six Sigma Belt Certified.
Patrick W. Sandone III, M.B.A.
Mr. Sandone has been named to the “Top 20 Under 40” rankings by Northeast Business Journal. Prior to founding his own company, he worked in Business Development for Scranton Dunlop, Inc., a retailer and wholesaler of tires and other auto parts. He also has experience in private equity investment and investment banking and worked for several years in this industry for Monitor Clipper Partners, a venture capital firm, and Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette, a global investment bank. His community affiliations include: Voluntary Action Center Board of Directors, Scranton Tomorrow Board of Directors, Tarrach Holdings Advisory Board, and Lackawanna Industrial Fund Enterprises (LIFE) Board of Directors.
A 1995 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Mr. Sandone holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, in Biology with a concentration in Business. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was named to the Dean’s List, in addition to being a member of the Penn Rugby Team. He earned an MBA in Finance and Management in 2003 from the Columbia Business School, New York, N.Y., where he was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and was named to the Dean’s List.
