Human Physiology Laboratory: Respiratory Testing Equipment

Viasys PFT System with Body Box

Capable of performing various Pulmonary Testing, Metabolic measurements, and Exercise performance Measurements. Vmax extra-wide Whole Body Plethysmograph (Autobox). The Vmax Autobox provides fast and precise measurements of absolute gas volumes in the lungs and airways resistance/conductance measurements. (photo at right)

Sievers Nitric Oxide Analyzer

(NOA 280i) uses ozone-chemiluminescence technology for Nitric Oxide (NO) analysis. It can be used to measure nitric oxide in liquid or exhaled breath samples.

Jeager Portable Spirometry

Provides basic spirometry measurements in the field for both screening and research purposes.

Impulse oscillometry

(OIS) allows researchers to determine the respiratory system impedance and measure central and peripheral airways resistance in 30 seconds of quiet breathing. This is especially useful in young children and those who are unable to perform the maneuvers necessary for traditional Pulmonary Function measurements.
