The environmental chamber located in the Human Physiology Lab allows our researchers to precisely control the conditions under which a subject exercises. This enclosed room allows for the control of temperature and humidity. With the addition of a metabolic system, the mix of inhaled gasses can be altered to simulate altitude, or environmental exposure.
Air Quality Monitoring devices located within the chamber allow for accurately measuring both the amount particulate matter in the air, as well as the sizes of the particles. This also allows the researcher to carefully monitor the air quality for both patient safety reasons and for consistency in research procedures.
