Ms. Jane E. McGowty was my piano instructor (my minor instrument) throughout my undergraduate years at Marywood. She was also Supervisor of Student Teachers for the Department of Music. After marrying in the middle of junior year, my husband and I moved temporarily to Cincinnati. Jane, who once told me, "You have the world in the palm of your hand; you can do anything," flew to Cincinnati to observe me as I did my student teaching in a school band program. But it doesn't end there.....After we moved back to PA, and I resumed my classes at Marywood, Jane allowed me to take the first segment of my senior Orchestration during the summer, working with me at her lake house on Lake Winola. I will forever be grateful to Jane for being one of the most important mentors in my life and for her selfless acts, influencing me to do my best.
