Is there a limit on the number of recipients I can use when sending an email?

In an effort to fight spam and prevent abuse, Google will temporarily disable your account if you send messages to more than 500 recipients or if you send a large number of undeliverable messages.

  2. Click on Accounts.
  3. Click the Change Password link.
  4. Type your current password.
  5. Type a new password (twice).

  3. Select the Cookies and Cache checkboxes.
  4. Click Clear Private Data Now.

How do I "star" an email?

Click on the star to the left of the email or email header.  It will become highlighted.  If you also want to MOVE the email from the Inbox to the Starred folder you must also click the ARCHIVE button.

There is an email in my Spam folder that should not be there.  How do I get it out?

Open the email and click on the NOT SPAM button above it.  That will send it back to your Inbox.

How do I turn off chat?  Can I get rid of it completely?

The easiest way to turn off chat is to go to the bottom center of your screen and look for some text.  You will see a link to "turn off chat."  Just click on it.  You cannot get rid of chat completely.  When you turn it off, the area will close up.

How do I know how much space I am using?

Look at the bottom center of the screen.  In green text, Gmail will tell you how much space you are using.  The percent (%) listed is probably the best way of knowing what has been already used up.

I am having problems using my calendar.  Gmail keeps giving me "Oops" error messages.

Occasionally the Gmail network has slight issues.  If this keeps happening, simply sign out of Gmail and then back in (click SIGN OUT in the upper right hand corner of the window).

I applied a label to an email in my Inbox.  However, it is still in my Inbox.  When I delete it, the email ends up in the trash.

If an email has a label but still is in your Inbox, you can click into the box next to it, and simply click the ARCHIVE button.  That will move it out of the Inbox into that label (folder).

I labeled an email incorrectly.  How do I change it?

Open the email.  Click on the LABELS button and click on the correct label.  Then click on the "X" to the right of the old label (you will see it at the top of the email).  That will take off the old label.

How do I delete a folder (label)?

Click on the "Edit Labels" link.
Locate the label you want to delete.
To the right of the label click on "remove."

If you have an email in that folder, you can find them in your ALL MAIL folder.

How can I contact Google/Gmail to suggest they add something to email?

You can go to the following Web page and suggest Gmail add a specific feature.  The more people suggest, the better the chances!

http://mail.google.com/support/a/maryu.marywood.edu/bin/static.py?page=suggestions.cs

Can I create "sub" labels under my labels?

No.  Gmail does not have that feature at this time.

I really do not like the conversation view.  It is too hard to search for emails.  Can I turn that off?

You cannot currently turn the conversation view off.  But maybe Gmail will add some other settings in the future so you can.

Can I add a "read request" to an email I am composing so I know when the person opened it?

No, Gmail does not have this capability as of yet.

Will Gmail send an "out of office" response for me?

Yes, click on SETTINGS and on the GENERAL page, scroll down to the area labeled VACATION RESPONDER.

Click into the radio button next to "Vacation responder on," type your message in the box, and scroll down to the bottom of the page to SAVE CHANGES.

I am trying to find a specific email.  What is the best way to search for it?

Go to your ALL MAIL folder.  Look there.  If you still can't find it, type a search term in the search box (to the right of the Marywood University logo) and click SEARCH MAIL.  This will search your entire Gmail mailbox, with the exception of SPAM and TRASH.

Can I sort my Inbox by Sender?

No, this feature is not available yet in Gmail.  You cannot change the way emails are sorted.
