I cannot open a network folder. When I try it asks me for my Username and Password. I type it in but it still won't open.

I cannot open a network folder.  When I try it asks me for my Username and Password.  I type it in but it still won't open.

Your password has probably expired.  Just because you can sign on to your PC, does not mean the password is current.  Sign on to Administrative Computing.  You will receive a message that the password has expired.  Change it following the rules and reboot immediately, signing on with the new password.  You should then be able to access your network folder

 

How do I share a folder with a co-worker?

1. RIGHT click on the folder.
2. Click on the Sharing and Security tab.
3. Click into the radio button next to Share This Folder.
4. Click on the Permissions button.
5. If Everyone is highlighted, click Remove.
6. Click the Add button.
7. Type the User ID of the person you will be sharing with.  Click OK.
8. Click into the box that represents allowing Full Control.
9. Click OK.
10. Click on the Security tab.
11. Repeat the above process.

 

How do I view a shared folder?

1. Click on the Start button.
2. Click Search.
3. Click For Files or Folders.
4. Click Printers, computers or people.
5. Click A computer on the network.
6. Type the PC number (no spaces).
7. Click Search.
8. The PC with the shared folder will appear in the list.  Double click it.
9. RIGHT click on the shared folder.
10. Click Create Shortcut.
11. Click Yes.
12. Close all windows and locate and open the folder on your desktop.

 

I no longer want to share my folder.

2. Click on the Sharing and Security tab.
3. Click into the radio button next to Do not share this folder.
4. Click OK.
