- FROZEN MUSIC: Frank Gehry and the Walt Disney Concert Hall
However inspired it may be, the towering, reflective flower petals of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles did not spring from a void. The form of the building, one of the most awe–inspiring examples of American architecture in the past decade, was the result of lengthy experimentation and discussion. This exhibition provides a glimpse into the world of Frank O. Gehry through its emphasis on a single project. Viewed in a broader context, the concert hall encapsulates Frank Gehry’s personal journey, a path he has followed for forty years, and represents one of his greatest successes yet in combining architecture and sculpture as a single art. Drawings and photographs loaned from Gehry Partners demonstrate the wide range of solutions that were studied in the process of making design decisions and the fabrication of complex shapes. Accompanying images by photographer Gil Garcetti capture the raw beauty of the concert hall during construction and document the completed work of architecture.

NEIU 19 and PCA rostered artists Elizabeth Parry-Faist, and Nancy Hasty instruct the prison’s visual, literary, and performing arts program.
