Painter, THORNTON WILLIS, Distinguished Visiting Artist Lecture Series, Monday, April 22, 2013, 3 PM, Media Center 160
Exploring the possibilities of the grid since the late 1960s, Willis is regarded as a member of the Third Generation of Abstract Expressionist creating paintings that reaffirm the ideology of great abstraction on an heroic scale. Mr. Willis will show examples of his his paintings and speak about his working process and life as an artist. Exhibiting extensively in the United States and Europe since 1969, Willis is in most major public and corporate collections (including The Maslow Collection @ Marywood University). He is represented by the Elizabeth Harris Gallery in New York.
