Immersion Day saw over forty area high school juniors and seniors from eighteen different public and private high schools, sharpening their language skills at Marywood by competing in games and activities designed by Spanish majors. Last year's highlights included:
- Finding your way from activity to activity scattered throughout Marywood's beautiful campus.
- Ordering food in the cafeteria, making purchases in the bookstore, picking up the mail at the post office, asking questions in Admissions, etc.
- Rehearsing and acting out a scene from a Spanish or French play.
- Practicing Salsa and French regional dances.
Department majors and minors are responsible for planning and overseeing all of the activities for this annual event. As a student, this will afford you a great "hands-on" experience, beginning your freshman year.
Immersion Day is a hands-on opportunity for you to challenge your creativity and language skills. Plus, it's more fun than you can imagine! If you are a high school senior and notify Marywood of your interest in a foreign language career, you will receive an e-mail in mid-September inviting you to campus to participate with other high school students on October 13th.
