Foreign Language Department: As an Art Major

As an art major, I was very excited to see the museums, El Prado and La Reina Sofia. El Prado was quite an experience. I was able to actually see some famous paintings that I have learned about in my art classes. The sheer multitude of paintings and sculptures from different countries was jaw-dropping. Being in the presence of Las Meninas and other works from Velázquez, brought a sense of awe to me. The other museum, La Reina Sofia, was just as amazing but in a different way. La Reina Sofia is a museum of modern art whereas El Prado has more historical paintings. La Reina Sofia houses Picasso's Guernica, which is an immensely important work of art. I was in shock that here I was, standing in the presence of such an amazing masterpiece.
