  • Completes the assignment creatively

  • Utilizes grammatical structures at course level
  • Is mostly free of errors
  • Pronunciation is approaching native-speaker


8-8.5    Demonstrates good to very good competence in oral communication

  • Completes the assignment
  • Demonstrates considerable ease of expression
  • Demonstrates good range of appropriate vocabulary
  • Utilizes grammatical structures at course level
  • Has minimal errors
  • Pronunciation is comprehensible


7-7.5    Demonstrates acceptable competence in oral communication

  • Mostly completes the assignment
  • Demonstrates some ease of expression
  • Demonstrates adequate vocabulary
  • Has errors in grammatical structures that do not interfere with communication
  • Pronunciation may interfere with communication


6-6.5    Demonstrates minimal competence in oral communication

  • Completes the task inadequately and/or incompletely
  • Does not demonstrate ease of expression
  • Demonstrates minimal vocabulary
  • Has many errors in structure that interfere with communication
  • Pronunciation interferes with communication


0-5.5    Demonstrates lack of competence in oral communication

  • Does not complete the task
  • Is extremely labored and incomplete
  • Demonstrates almost no vocabulary or structure
  • Pronunciation may prevent communication
