Foreign Language Department: Academic Assessments

Your emerging language skills will be assessed according to
the following rubrics as appropriate for the course level.
At mid-semester and end-of semester, the Oral Proficiency Interview Individualized Assessment will be the criteria. The Department will maintain an Electronic Student Portfolio on each student based on the mid- and end-of-semester assessments for each course. These assessments reflect current ACTFL (American Council of Teachers of Foreign Language) standards and parallel OPI (Oral Proficiency Interview) standards. Thus you will know how you compare nationally throughout your preparation.

Rubrics are available for the following courses:

  • Oral Presentational Communication
  • Presentational Written Communication
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Interpretive Communication
  • Cultures, Literatures, Cross-Disciplinary Concepts
