What to do first
Download the Faculty Development Guidelines from the website. Work with your chairperson, colleagues and faculty mentor on completing your Profile (a summary of strengths and weaknesses) and a Plan (a concise list of goals related to your professional development). Submit these documents (3 paper copies and one electronic copy of the Plan; 1 copy of the Profile) to: Chair of Faculty Development Committee, Sr. Angela Kim, IHM, LAC Room 81, ext. 2394.
Submitting a Proposal
- Download the Proposal document to your computer from the Forms page.
- Open it using Adobe Acrobat.
- Type the required information into the form. Make sure you have (1) specified where you are going for your activity and (2) clearly state the relevant goal from your Plan on the form. Enter your expenses (please do not send receipts to the committee), and all other required information.
- If you are making a presentation, include documentation of this with your Proposal (such as a letter of acceptance, page from a conference program, etc.).
- Sign the form, and get your department chair's signature as well
- Send 3 paper copies and e-mail an electronic copy to the Faculty Development Chairperson (@marywood.edu) before the next submission deadline
- After about 2 weeks you will hear from the Vice President for Academic Affairs (or the committee chair if there is a problem with your proposal). At that time you will be asked to submit an expense form and receipts to that office.
2012- 2013 Funding Limits
The Continential U.S. and Canada
- $800- Conference Attendance
- $1,000- Commentator, panel, roundtable, poster, presiding, etc.
- $1,000- Materials, supplies, research fees, etc.
- $1,200- National Presentation
International Presentation
- $1,300- International Attendance

- $1,700- International Presentation
Any presentation that is outside the contiguous United States and Canada is considered an international presentation.

Some Important Tips:
- You must have a Profile and Plan on file with the Chair of the committee before you are eligible for funding
- You may submit multiple requests for funding up to the limits noted above (budget permitting)
- The magic number of copies is 3 (plus an electronic copy). This is true of Proposals, Plans, Applications for Release Time, etc. (you only need to submit one paper copy of your Profile)
- The committee recommends that you include goals related to teaching in your Plan (as well as goals related to scholarship)
- Profiles and Plans are valid for 3 years.
- All documents require your signature as well as your department chairperson's.
- It takes approximately 2 weeks from the submission deadline to process and review your Proposal
