This program offers a thorough overview of the literary periods, from early to contemporary, and includes a broad range of authors and genres. Courses focus on British and American literature, but we also offer courses that encompass literature from around the world. A wide array of writing courses are also available.
Course requirements allow room for students to make choices, enabling you to shape the dimensions of your degree. We offer small seminars, a gateway course, and a research-based capstone course.
The English program will teach you critical thinking skills while you learn to appreciate the nuances of texts and the questions concerning human existence that they pose. You will also have the opportunity to hone your writing skills.
With a degree in English, you can pursue a wide variety of professions, such as law, journalism, editing, library science, business, teaching, news broadcasting, and technical writing. All English majors are encouraged to pursue a minor to broaden their learning and enhance their marketability.
