Welcome!

The English Department at Marywood University is a dynamic learning community dedicated to exploring the beauty and power of language and literature. Our mix of courses allows majors to tailor a curriculum to their interests.

Course selections cover a broad spectrum of writers and periods, from Shakespeare to the Contemporary American Novel, from Mid-and-Far East Literature to courses in major figures such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Mark Twain, Sylvia Plath, and Virginia Woolf.

In addition to programs in literary studies and teacher training, the department offers a minor in Writing.
