English Department: Lambda Iota Tau

 

Lambda Iota Tau recognizes and promotes excellence in the study of literature of all languages.

New members were inducted into Lamba Iota Tau at the Spring Social on April 21, 2010

 

Membership Requirements

  • Major or minor in literature
  • Fifth-semester standing as a student
  • Overall QPA of 3.2 or higher
  • QPA of 3.5 or higher in English courses
  • Paper with a literary title (5-6 pages), either of the following:
    • A research paper written for an English class (It does not have to be a paper specifically written for Lambda.)
    • A creative piece, such as a short story, a play, a grouping of poems, or an essay
  • Membership fee of $30 for one-year or $50 for lifetime


Benefits of Membership

  • Subscription to LIT, Lambda's journal of papers and creative writing
  • Submit papers and creative writing to LIT
  • Free criticism service for help with poems, plays, short stories, critical essays, or scholarly articles
  • Networking with with foreign students in international Lambda chapters
  • Enter federal employment at a higher civil service rating than other college graduates
  • Apply for a Lambda scholarship (Lambda gives two $1000 scholarships each year.)
