AGNES CARDONI Assistant Professor of English Agnes A. Cardoni, Ph.D. B.A., College Misericordia (Misericordia University) M.S. Ed., Wilkes College  (Wilkes University) Ph.D., Lehigh University Dr. Agnes A. Cardoni joined the Marywood faculty as Assistant professor of English in 2007.  Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, she graduated from College Misericordia and spent more than three decades of her professional life in the English classrooms of the Wilkes-Barre Area School District, where she taught English in every grade from seventh through twelfth.  During that time, she received her M.S. Ed. from Wilkes College in English Education.  She also pursued professional development opportunities at the Pennsylvania Writing Project and the Bard Institute in Writing and Thinking, and served as a University Associate in Rhetoric at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  She then began graduate studies at Lehigh University where she was a Teaching Fellow and earned her Ph.D. in English.   Dr. Cardoni’s research interests include the American writer Tillie Olsen, teacher-education, rhetoric and composition, and medical humanities.  Her dissertation, Women’s Ethical Coming-of-Age: Adolescent Female Characters in the Prose Fiction of Tillie Olsen, was published by University Press of America (Rowman and Littlefield).   She is also the co-author, with the late Dr. Regina Kelly, RSM, of the history of College Misericordia, At the Edge of Centuries: College Misericordia 1914-999.  She is a consultant to the College Board for the Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition Examination, and to the Wilkes University Graduate Program in Creative Writing.
