Staff Accountant I (#504)


35 hrs. per wk, 52 wks. per yr.

 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Summary of Duties

Assists in accounting for all funds of the university, including recording transactions in the general ledger and various sub ledgers. Reconciling bank accounts and other analyses to the general ledger; preparation of monthly and annual financial reports. Set up new miscellaneous receivable accounts, enter charges and update existing accounts. Prepare routine monthly journal entries; routine filing and retrieval of accounting records. Compiling and updating (as necessary) documentation of procedures associated with all aspects of Colleague used by Staff Accountant II. Provide support/back-up for other Fiscal Services personnel as necessary.


  • Educational:

    Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree, or equivalent experience.

  • Essential Elements:

    Familiar with generally accepted accounting principles and the routine of a business office. Ability to analyze and record complex, non-routine transactions. Able to analyze and interpret various federal and state regulations as required for accounting for grants, restricted funds, bond reporting, etc.
