Assistant Professor - Tenure Track

Summary of Duties

The School of Architecture at Marywood University (MUSOA) invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor position in Architecture and/or Interior Architecture beginning Fall 2022. This is a nine-month appointment.  Successful candidates shall demonstrate an ability to teach design studios and courses one of the following areas: social, environmental and tectonic sustainability; computational design, making, and representation; applied building technologies; introductory design; or adaptive reuse of existing structures.

University educates students on a verdant, 115-acre campus in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The MUSOA inhabits a former gymnasium and natatorium that serves as laboratory for sustainable design and adaptive reuse.  As a professional school in a liberal arts university, our architecture, interior architecture, and new construction management programs set a rigorous disciplinary curriculum within an educational context that encourages critical inquiry. Full-time faculty members are expected to embrace the University’s and School’s missions and core values in their teaching, advisement, and service as well as ongoing engagement with and between the disciplines represented in the School; additionally, tenure-track faculty are expected to cultivate a productive scholarly agenda.



Minimum Qualifications: terminal degree; professional and/or teaching experience.

The School of Architecture defines a terminal degree as a master’s degrees from CIDA, NAAB, or NASAD accredited programs and/or a post-professional degree in a design discipline.

Preferred Qualifications: professional licensure and/or doctorate.
