Summary of Duties
The ideal candidate will provide strong, first-tier public relations for Marywood University’s Department of Music, Theatre & Dance (MTD) by greeting visitors; receiving, screening, and directing all phone calls and inquiries; composing general office correspondence; informing community of MTD events; and maintaining department files. Candidate must review, prioritize, and respond to office mail; generate contracts, load sheets, and payroll documents; oversee work-study students; order supplies; maintain office equipment; reserve practice rooms for applied faculty; take minutes at faculty meetings; assign lockers; organize audition folders; and provide general secretarial and administrative office support to the department.
Candidate must work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced academic and performing arts-based environment; handle diverse tasks and priorities with a high degree of tact, attention to detail, and thorough knowledge of professional office practices and procedures; and have a positive, independent approach to problem solving and establishing systems to increase and/or enhance office efficiency. The ideal candidate is highly organized and computer proficient with Microsoft Office and desktop publishing programs (including knowledge of or training in administrative computing systems). This person must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, maintain confidentiality of information, and work with various levels of university personnel, students, and the general public in a professional manner. Other duties as assigned.
Postsecondary education and experience in an academic environment are preferred. A high school diploma and significant clerical experience required.
