Assistant Professor - Tenure Track, Special Education (#221)

Summary of Duties

The Marywood University School of Education invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor nine-month appointment starting August 2022. The successful candidate will have expertise and experience in Special Education and a commitment to the values of social justice, respect for others, and education as an empowering force. The position offers opportunities for leadership, innovation, engagement with students, and collaboration within a collegial community.

Doctorate degree in Special Education or related area.

Work Experience Requirements

Minimum: At least 3 years of classroom teaching experience; Instructional II Teacher Certification in Special Education; a focused research agenda. 

Preferred: Experience teaching Special Education within higher education; experience teaching online; knowledge of accreditation and curriculum development; fluency in Spanish.

Essential Elements

The successful candidate will teach, advise, and mentor at the undergraduate, graduate and/or doctoral levels; serve as the point of contact/coordinator for the department’s Special Ed-related programs; supervise various field experiences; participate in service to the department, university, the discipline, and local educational community; and engage in research and scholarly activities. It is expected that the successful candidate will become a fully engaged member of Marywood University’s and the School of Education’s community.
