ABLE Instructors (Part Time) 2 positions


Monday and Wednesday 

Summary of Duties

The Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) instructors will be responsible for teaching one or more classes as part of the ABLE program offered at Marywood University.  This includes student assessment and lesson planning in alignment with the ABLE curriculum.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to motivate and retain learners and must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with outside agencies, students, and administrative staff.  The ABLE instructor is responsible to the ABLE program director and the ABLE GED Coordinator.   The instructor will teach adult learners in the content areas of Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts.  This is a grant-funded position.


  • Educational:

    Teaching certification in Math, Science, Social Studies or English preferred along with experience teaching secondary learners.  

  • Work Experience Requirements:

    Experience using computer technology for lessons and other forms of instruction beyond lecture. 

  • Special Qualifications:

    Pennsylvania Department of Education Clearances required. 

  • Essential Elements:

    Ability to develop lesson preparation and deliver instructions, perform assessments and set goals for each student.

  • Other Elements:

     Participate in Professional Development activities related to the ABLE Program's Professional Development plan.
