Summary of Duties
Marywood University is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to serve as Assistant Professor (tenure-track) and Program Director within our CAATE accredited athletic training education program (ATP). This is a 9-month faculty appointment within the Nutrition, Athletic Training and Exercise Science Department.
Marywood University is a comprehensive Catholic university sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We are located in the culturally rich coal mining region of the Pocono Mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania, easily accessible to Philadelphia and New York City. The area currently offers scenic fall foliage along numerous hiking trails with three state parks in close proximity. Heritage festivals run throughout the year along with a Philharmonic concerts, Broadway Theatre tour, and First Friday Art Walk held monthly year round. As Program Director, the faculty member will be responsible for evaluating and implementing all aspects of the athletic training major to meet both individual needs of students and established CAATE accreditation standards; assist with leadership and vision for the Athletic Training Program as it transitions to a Master’s degree.
Responsibilities include: teaching graduate and undergraduate courses within the ATP and courses for all majors in the department, student advising, commitment to scholarly activity and university, professional and community service.
Required: The successful applicant at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) must possess a Master’s Degree and an earned doctorate in Athletic Training, Exercise Science or a closely related field; an ABD will be considered, as long as the doctorate is earned by August 2019. All applicants must be BOC certified athletic trainers for a minimum of five (5) years and be eligible for Pennsylvania licensure. University teaching experience is required. Applicants should also demonstrate potential for scholarship.
Preferred: Experience in scientific areas such as general medical aspects of athletic training, organization and administration of athletic training, therapeutic exercise or modalities. Previous experience in a CAATE accredited athletic training program is also preferred.
