Assistant Professor, Clinical/Tenure Track Position

Summary of Duties

The Marywood University Department of Art seeks an Assistant Professor of Art Therapy for a Full-Time Clinical or Tenure track position beginning August, 2018.


Responsibilities include: teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Art Therapy; overseeing the practicum/internship supervision portions of both graduate and undergraduate programs; serving as the interface between sites and students; retention of new sites; review of current placements and contract collection. This faculty member will also advise undergraduate students, assist the director in preparation for accreditation as well as oversee the service club, MUSATA. Successful candidates should demonstrate potential for effective teaching and be willing to provide service to the department, University and community.

  • Educational:

    Required: Masters in Art Therapy from an approved or accredited Art Therapy program. Must be credentialed with the Art Therapist Registered – Board Certification (ATR-BC). Active clinical art therapy work within the last 5 years, evidence of relevant research, and teaching experience are required. Applicants will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates meeting these requirements will be eligible for appointment as Clinical faculty.

    Preferred: Preference will be given to candidates meet the required qualifications and who have earned the DAT, PsyD, or PhD in related field.  Preference will also be given to candidates who hold the Art Therapist Certified Supervisor (ATCS) credential or demonstrate training and experience to competently teach and oversee supervision.  Candidates meeting these requirements will be eligible for appointment as tenure-track faculty.
