Summary of Duties
The Marywood University Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance invites applications for Theatre Program Director (full-time, tenure-track position) starting in August 2020. The Program Director supervises undergraduate students in: Theatre; musical theatre; theatre education 7-12; and arts administration/theatre degree programs. The ideal candidate will be a generalist with a background in both the performance and technical aspects of theatre education, and will be able to lead a theatre program that balances training in performance and technical areas.
Ph.D. or MFA in theatre or related field required
Work Experience Requirements:
Candidate must possess strong administrative and communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to promote professional partnerships with area schools and professional agencies. A strong record of scholarly and/or creative work is essential. Successful collegiate teaching experience is preferable.
Teaching academic courses according to expertise; advising and mentoring theatre majors; recruiting; auditioning prospective students; directing and producing most theatrical works; and integrating theatre productions into the academic program. The Program Director oversees all theatre productions and is responsible for the theatre budget.
