Production Manager (#179)
Summary of Duties
The Marywood University Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance (MTD) invites applications for a Production Manager Position beginning in Spring 2020. This position will be dedicated to supporting MTD in the areas of production management, organization of scenery and properties storage, and overseeing the operation and maintenance of the scenic construction facilities. The Production Manager will also teach courses for the theatre program that aligns with the candidate’s skills and expertise. In addition, the Production Manager coordinates with other University departments, including Conference and Events Services, to organize extra-departmental and external bookings for the Performing Arts Center.
M.F.A. or M.A. in Theatre Arts or closely related field. Prior experience in theatrical production management and technical theatre is also required. Experience working in an academic theatre program is preferred, and experience teaching one or more aspects of theatre production is also desired.
Duties include but are not limited to: The supervision of student workers and stage managers, coordination of the technical elements for productions and oversight of technical rehearsals, and management of personnel and equipment, along with other duties as assigned. Qualified candidates will be experienced in scenery construction, rigging, welding, and theatre and scene shop safety procedures and protocols. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, budgetary and time management skills and expertise running a scene shop in an academic setting. Candidates should demonstrate the potential to be an excellent teacher and mentor, willingness to undertake service roles, and the ability to model professional standards.
