Director of Military and Veterans Services

Summary of Duties

The Director of Military and Veterans Services serves as the primary certifying official for the University and ensures compliance with state and federal standards. S/he will provide direct service and guidance to undergraduate and graduate student veterans and dependents, and will provide information and counsel regarding the use of educational benefits to current and prospective students. S/he will also work closely with campus offices including Cashier’s,  Financial Aid, and Registrar’s Office to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.

The Director supports student veterans with transitional issues and acclimation to the University. S/he will serve as a mentor and advocate for this population and should have a strong desire to work with student veterans, as well demonstrated knowledge of their unique needs. The Director will also assist active military members facing military leave time to plan for the potential impact on their academics. Additionally, the Director will also work closely with local ROTC programs and provide support to cadet students at Marywood University, and will serve as a liaison to external local community partners providing services to veterans.

The successful candidate is an important part of the Student Success team and will also work with staff in the Office of Retention and Advising to advise additional populations of students, as needed.



Requirements

  • Educational:

    Requirements: A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
    Preferred: Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Higher Education, or related field. Prior experience working with veterans, particularly working with veterans educational benefits. One or more years of experience working in a higher educational setting, with ability to provide academic advising. Evidence of leadership experience.
