Peter and MaryCarol Tighe Kanton ‘64, The 2015 Society

When asked why she chose to establish the MaryCarol Tighe Kanton, B.S. ’64 and ’71 M.A. Endowed Scholarship at her alma mater, Mrs. Kanton replied, “I feel that I should pay back and help someone else who might need financial aid.  I started this scholarship to give someone the great opportunity of an education at a university that graduates great teachers!”

In addition to being generous financial benefactors of Marywood, Peter and MaryCarol Kanton have been tireless volunteers in support of the University’s mission.  They have served as chairs of the Presidential Society and general chairs of the Marywood Fund.  In addition, MaryCarol has served on the board of the Marywood Alumni Association for several years, acting in various capacities including Vice President of the Board.  

Besides providing scholarship support for University students, the Kantons have also supported capital initiatives at Marywood.  They have been honored for this support with the dedication of a stained-glass window in the Marian Chapel.     

    
The 2015 Society sets the stage for a momentous anniversary, by honoring Marywood University's most generous annual benefactors. Members can contribute at varying levels of support, with a minimum annual Society gift of $1,250 in fiscal year 2008-2009.
